Term Dates 2016/2017
Mr Wilson, Mrs Baker, Mrs Duzgun, Miss Robinson, Pre-school and Reception classes will be taking part in Grow to School on 6th October 2016. Children will be required to go outside whatever the weather, so need to be prepared with coats and warm clothing potentially along with wellies (which must be brought in a plastic bag and put on for the session).
Dear Parent/Carer, I hope that you have enjoyed your summer break. Thank you all for your generous support and positive comments after the Singing for Fun Festival in July. Feedback from the organisers was very encouraging – “Your choir was very good, well-disciplined and focused, singing with lots of energy!” After the success of the Singing for Fun Festival, I have been pleased to hear many of your children pleading with me to begin choir rehearsals again. A couple more weeks are needed to settle back in to routine but Choir will restart on Friday 7th October, 3:15 – 4:15pm. This year children will leave the rehearsal from the upper building. However, in the meantime, I have successfully registered the choir for the Young Voices Concert Event at the Manchester Arena on February 10th 2017. Please take some time to look at the website www.youngvoices.co.uk where you will find some fabulous videos of the previous events. The event consists of an afternoon rehearsal at the Arena followed by the evening concert. Return to school will be fairly late but I am reliably informed that it is a worthwhile sacrifice and at least none of us have to be up for school the following day! Young Voices require confirmation of final numbers within the next week so it is vital that I receive confirmation of your child’s commitment even at this early stage. The children all need to purchase a Young Voices T Shirt to be worn at the event at the cost of £10. We will also need to cover the cost of a small coach to the event, however until I have final num-bers, I cannot confirm the price of this. I do propose to initiate some fund raising activities to help cover the cost and also raise the profile of both the choir and the school. For parents and friends wishing to attend the concert, tickets will be available to be purchased through school and infor-mation will be sent out at a later date. Please can you return the attached form to school with a payment of £10 for the compulsory T Shirt and also the T Shirt Or-der Form requesting the size (pre-empting any potential growth spurts between now and February). It is vital that I receive this by Friday, 24th September in order to hold our place at the event.

Dear Parent / Carer, VISIT Ogden Water, Causeway Foot. DATE Tuesday 11th October. Arrive at school as normal, returning to school for home time. During this half term, the topic we are studying is ‘The Enchanted Woodland.’ In order to get the most out of this topic, we are walking to Ogden Water where we can get first-hand experience of a woodland area and spend some time exploring. Children will look for signs of wildlife and hunt for woodland creatures. Each child will require: - A school uniform - A packed lunch with disposable bottle of water (no glass bottles or sweets, please), preferably in a carrier bag for easy disposal. - Suitable footwear and weather appropriate accessories, e.g. raincoat. We are able to offer a packed lunch – consisting of sandwich, carrot/cucumber sticks, piece of home-made cake or biscuit, piece of fruit and a drink for all children in receipt of ‘Pupil Premium’ and Universal Infant Free School Meals. If you would like school to provide a packed lunch for your child as above please email: firstname.lastname@example.org before Tuesday 4th October 2016 at the very latest, otherwise we will assume that you are providing a packed lunch for your child.
